The gOD They Worship

The Creed of Moralistic Therapeutic Deist:
  1. A God exists who created and orders the world.
  2. God wants us to be good and fair.
  3. Central goal of life is to be happy and feel good about oneself.
  4. God does not need to be particularly involved in one’s life, except when needed to resolve a problem.
  5. Good people go to heaven when they die.
"Preach the word of God. Be persistent, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching. For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to right teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever they want to hear. They will reject the truth and follow strange myths." 2 Timothy 4:2-4

I'm sorry, but I'm confused. Are you saying that you don't believe number 1 and number 2?

#1 I do believe, very much so! But these points aren't to only state that which is wrong with their theology, but rather to state the basics of their theology. And that is where the problem is.

#2 is partially right. God doesn't want to be good and fair. He wants us to be good and just. And even more so He doesn't desire for us to be "morally" good, the good that we "think" is right; but He desires that we rather do the good He commands (1 Samuel 15:22).
