In the parable of the sower the seeds are the places the Gospel and the kinds of people who hear it. We're supposed to be the ones scattering the seeds (bringing the Good News all over the place to all kinds of people).

[I don't mean beat people over the head with it but, just put it out there so that they know it is there?]

Beating people over the head with it is definitely a bad thing. That includes tearing pages from the Bible and slapping it to people's forehead using your spit as adhesive. Not a good thing!

*back to seriousness* A big part of the Gospel is telling the message accurately and then leaving them to make the decision. It's never good to coax/manipulate someone towards Christ; you then end up with a false convert. Another important big part of the Gospel is living it for them to see.

[It is their choice if they take it and nourish it but, they still should be told. Or am I missing the point?]

I'm not sure what you're asking, but let me try to explain what I meant in another way, very briefly.

1. The Gospel goes to all kinds of people. We're the ones who bring this message to them.

2. From there the job is no longer ours in regard to whether or not this person will accept Christ, grow as a believer, etc. We can water all we want but only God makes them grow. Only God changes this heart and their life.

3. I do believe we're supposed to put a tremendous amount of effort in reaching people that are hard to reach. I do believe we're supposed to keep trying on the immature believers who just aren't getting it. But we need to remember that our effort doesn't make those seeds grow. Only God does that.

3a. So don't beat yourself up when they don't get it.

3b. A be able to realize, through the council of God, that some aren't worth the effort and will be drain on you to the point that you won't be effect in reaching and helping others.

Does this help?TerryKMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15001371314337155315noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-916833960238206414.post-68016961400567358372008-04-04T16:13:00.000-04:002008-04-04T16:13:00.000-04:00Ok, let me be the other side of this. I don't mean beat people over the head with it but, just put it out there so that they know it is there? It is their choice if they take it and nourish it but, they still should be told.
